Tania, I am topping for you because I would love to be there one year at Christmas.
You will be more than welcome at Midnight Mass... you don't say which village you'll be in, but some have more tourists in town for the holidays than others. The church in Les Baux, for instance, will be packed, and since it's very tiny you must arrive hours in advance if you wish to be seated inside.
Christmas Eve is, for the most part, a family affair, with everyone having the traditional dinner (including the "thirteen desserts") with family and then going to mass. We have dinner every year with our neighbors at our house, then they change into traditional costume and we all go to mass here in our village.
One tip - most of the services start between 11 and 11:30 PM, so get there early - all the churches tend to fill up on this night !
