Christmas in Paris.....On Going Trip Report
My husband and I leave today for Paris. We will be spending 16 days in the city of lights to celebrate Christmas and life. A year ago he received the gift of life, a kidney transplant. This will be our first Europe trip since the transplant. This will be our 8th time to the city but never in the winter, so it will be a little different for us. This will be my on-going trip report. I hope to post daily / every other day. We have an apartment rented in the 9th, from VRBO.

We leave this evening, on Lufthansa from Charlotte to Munich then onto Paris. Arrival in Charles De Gaulle should be around 1:30 PM Paris time. Our plan is to taxi into the city.
We plan to visit the different Christmas Markets within the city and visit two museums. The Dali and the Louis Vuitton. In addition, we have two day trips planned, Reims and Strasbourg.
Now time to get ready for the airport and 8+ hours flights.... More to come as we arrive in our favorite city..

Hope you have a wonderful trip! The apt looks lovely. We will be leaving Paris in a couple days after spending close to 3 weeks here. Its's been great. Happily for Paris the crowds seem to be picking up and the city is so bright and cheerful with all the decorations everywhere. Be prepared for security checks as you enter museums and/or stores, but it's no big deal. Safe travels and a terrible visit.

Lovely condo. Please write about it (location, amenities, ease of rental, etc). We rented through Homeaway and stayed on Rue du Cherche Midi in September. We found it very easy and enjoyed it immensely.
We leave on Sept 12 and will be on a river cruise to Normandy for, alas, only 8 days this time, then back home for holidays.
Enjoy your time in my favorite city too!

The apartment looks perfect! What a great trip to celebrate such a big op! Enjoy and look forward to hearing about your adventures! Picard has some great frozen desserts to stock in your freezer! I wish we had something like that to shop!

Bon voyage, denmal and wunderbar.
That is wonderful news about your husband's transplant, denmal. I've read your combined reports before and know that Paris is a special place for both of you. Enjoy this trip!
And you have fun too, wunderbar!

So glad you ended up going with the Fontaine apartment - we loved it. Tell Paula from Frenchy Rentals that the "other Paula" says hi. ;-)
I remember contributing to a thread where you asked about restaurants in the 9th. I'll try to dig it up later. Off the top of my head: Comptoir Canailles, Bistrot Bruyère, Le Richer. And don't miss Denise Acabo's newly reopened candy shop, just up the street.
Have a wonderful trip and congrats on your husband's good health!
Looking forward to your report.

Enjoy your trip -- what a wonderful reason to go to Paris! The apartment looks great and I love the little balcony.
And congratulations on the success of the transplant -- may you both have a terrific time and celebrate life in Paris!
