We are a family of 4 2 adults and 2 adult children 20 and 18. We will be in Paris for 3 nights over Christmas.
Any suggestions where to stay, hotel or apartment. Budget is mid ranged. I have heard that the Latin Quarter is a good location is this true?

Suggestions as to where to eat for Christmas lunch in paris? We are not fussy eaters.

We went to Cafe Marly that past Christmas. It overlooks the Louvre. It is not inexpensive but they have something for everyone menu wise.

I also believe Chez Clement locations are open, but check online.

More places are closed Christmas Eve than Christmas Day.

Le Train Bleu, the gorgeous Belle Epoque restaurant in the Gare de Lyon, is open 365 days/year. Not cutting edge "foodie" food, but certainly good food. A great experience, IMO. You can check out a current menu on the site. You can choose a prix fixe or order a la carte. www.le-train-bleu.com

Agree that for hotels you need to define mid-range in a specific number of euros - and confirm if you are looking for a single large family room or two separate ones.

Can confirm that Le Train Bleu is gorgeous and very good food without being uber trendy. Good for a special meal without breaking the budget.

We went to Czech for Christmas but my friend that helped us a great deal was Ron of Ron Phillips Travel. He and his wife went to Paris over the holidays. Maybe check out his site.
He does budget too.

You can book Cafe Marly online easily. There was not a set menu, just their usual menu. We sat outside overlooking the Louvre pyramid.

The consensus best Christmas Market in Paris is I think this one at La Defense, a few miles straight west of the Arc de Triomphe.

For restaurants keep an eye on ParisByMouth.com in November - they'll list what's open on Christmas day and provide well written restaurant reviews. I don't remember what we did for lunch, but we had some great Chinese food for dinner on Christmas.

Anywhere that you can find an apartment in Paris will be fine if it suits your budget. Location is not at all the most important thing in December, and in fact you might discover fantastic Christmas decorations far from the center. You know that you will all be seeing the Christmas decorations in the center in any case, but if you stay in the center, you will miss all of the stuff in the outer areas.
