Christmas in Florence (restaurant info)
I will be staying in Florence during Christmas holidays. The only thing I am kinda worried about is finding restaurants open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Googled the other say and found this website has some good info on that regard. Also Trattoria ZàZà will only open for lunch on 12/24 and close on 12/25 and 12/26.

Please share your restaurant info if you have any. Thanks!

Roxy:
having recently been in Florence, we had two excellent, reasonably priced meals at Trattoria Guelph (Guelfi) on the corner of Via Porta Rossa and the Arcade. It was recommended by a Fodorite, and it turned out we had eaten there in 1993. Try the incredible tagliatelle with melted gorgonzola and cherry tomatoes...they have very large outside dining area (b-r-r in December), but the inside room is quite small...so you will probably need a reservation. Za Za was just a little funky joint near the Mercado Centrale when we were there 16 years ago...we did not go there last month, but it has grown into a "destination" these days.
Have a meaningful, fun trip.

I think Boccadama on Piazza Santa Croce may be open - dinner there is very nice, and reasonable ($) for the center. You can check their website: http://boccadama.com/

Me and my American friend (both lonely expats..) are going to a farmhouse 30 minutes from Florence for lunch on the 25th. We LOVE the food there! It's 30 bucks all inclusive and menu:
Glass of sparkling wine with crostini (toasted bread) appetizer
Cold cuts: salami and prosciutto crudo (raw ham) with kiwi
Grilled cheese with honey
Calf with sauce
Pappardelle with wild boar (egg based, fresh pasta)
Ravioli with broth (egg based, fresh pasta with filling)
Roast veal (young calf)
Mixed cut stew with potatoes
Panettone with custard cream (sweet bread loaf type cake)
Coffee and vinsanto (dessert wine)

While convenient with some tables having a good view of the Ponte Vecchio, I would pass on Golden View---food was very pedestrian and honestly was the worst meal we ever had in Florence (a dozen trips).
