Christmas in Austria - what is the ideal location?

Jump to last reply

Message: For many years now my husband and I have dreamt of spending Christmas holidays in Austria. Our family obligations have so far prevented this. However, we have decided to do it next year. Our conundrum is where to go. We would like to be in a very picturesque setting (i.e. surrounded by lovely mountains), and be in a town that has a lot of things going on, i.e. alpine skiing (which we no longer do, but may try it again on easy slopes), cross-country skiing, sledding, hay rides, restaurants, hotels, etc. Have any of you found the perfect town? Are we expecting too much? As you can see, we are starting to plan early to make sure that we maintain the momentum and don't let guilt set in about cooking the turkey one more time. Any suggestions you make will be appreciated.
