We are in the early stages of planning a Christmas family holiday (4 people total - 2 adults and 2 young teenagers). Seeking authentic old european Christmas holiday (Vienna) with markets, arts/performances. Also seeking the thrill and fun of alpine resort that is not over-crowded, yet scenic and chic (lots of people watching).
Specifically, looking for recommendations re:
a. 10 day itinerary including Christmas in Vienna. Vienna total of 3-4 days.
b. Prefer to travel by train with scenic views of the Alps.
c. We have slight interest in Cortina D'Ampezzo in Italian Dolomites as alpine ski resort but travel from Vienna appears to be roundabout.
Any and all thoughts are welcomed and greatly appreciated.
