Christmas - between Barcelona and Collioure/Argeles sur Mer
We would like to get away from home during the Xmas hols this year and are looking for a place to visit from 26 Dec to 2 Jan. We are thinking of flying to Barcelona and driving up to Argeles-sur-Mer and Collioure and perhaps, Perpignan. Could anyone please advise me on the following:
-what places are worth visiting between Barcelona and Perpignan.
- Is there anything going on during this period or is the place dead? Seeing how it will be too cold to enjoy the beach, are there other things to do.
-Would appreciate knowing roughly what the temp is like during Xmas - hopefully around 10 degrees C or more.
-any suggestions on how to celebrate New Year in Barcelona (I figure we should go back there for more action).
Appreciate any help I can get.

"what places are worth visiting between Barcelona and Perpignan".
To name a few . Girona, Figueres for the Dali Museum, the coast between Cadaques and Collioure, the Greek ruins of empuries, Besalu, the medieval village of Pals, Olot and its volcanoes, Ceret, Andorra, Rupit. You need to read a good guide of Spanish and French Catalonia.

The place (which is a large area) is not dead, it is not a theme park for tourists.
Temperatures between 5 and 10°C, colder in the mountains.

We did a very similar trip to this last year between Christmas and New Years. Collioure is a fun town to spend New Years Eve in. You need to get reservations now if you plan to stay there. They have a simple parade, and sea food booths along the shore, plus most restaurants are open. Narbonne had activities also. I posted some reports for this area last year if you can find them.
As mentioned above Girona, Figueres for the Dali Museum, the coast between Cadaques and Collioure, the Greek ruins of empuries, Besalu, the medieval village of Pals, Olot and its volcanoes, Ceret, were all wonderful. There is plenty to do and the weather was fine last year.
