I am planning ahead the Christmas and New Year vacation in Paris. Would the train and metro services run on special schedule on 24, 25, 26, 31 Dec and 1 Jan?

Everything ran on reduced holiday schedule when there last Xmas so check at station VERY cold snowed but beautiful.
Blasted out on the TGV to sunfrance.com and Nice to get
warm after a few days.
seat61.com good french training info.
we had no trouble getting around on the metro during Xmas last year...if we had to wait longer for a train it wasn't bad at all-and we got a free ride on xmas day...but weren't there over new years
As above, the RER and Metro run on reduced schedules, but still run (unlike London where the Underground and Busses don't run Christmas Day). The overland trains will also run, but will be busy/booked so book as far ahead as you can.
On NYE in Paris, the Metro & RER (and busses I believe, but check that) are free from around 6pm until midday on Jan 1st.
As far as shops go, the usual holidays apply, and check museum/sights websites for opening days - most only close on 25th Dec and 1st Jan.
I've spent several Christmases and New Years in Paris and don't recall local transport even registering as an issue at all. As other posters have noted, things may run on a reduced schedule, but not enough to throw you off.
Thanks all! Seems there shouldn't be any hesitation.
I am thinking to have some day trips to Mont-St-Michel, Provins and Strassbourg. Would you recommend travel by TGV or rent a car during the holidays season?
