Choices for Venice B&B around 100-125 euros, please advise
My hubs and I will be in Venice for 2 nights in mid-September on our way back from the Dolomites in our hiking honeymoon. I've tried to read as many threads and TR's as possible to narrow down the range of hotels there. We are looking to keep the average per-night to around 100 to 125 euros with breakfast. In Florence we've decided to go with the Tourist House Ghiberti and in the Dolomites, (Ortisei) we're going to book Hotel Garni Villa Park.
here are my thoughts for Venice, based on what others have recommended here:
Al Palazzetto
Ai Tagliapietra B&B
Alcampaniel
I would love some thoughts on location and value. We are not interested in staying right in St. Mark's Square, but neither are we interested in the outskirts. A 10-minute walk anywhere, so we can have a quiet night of sleep, is fine with us. And if you have another idea that's certainly appreciated too!
Thank you!

To state that Al Palazzetto is a 10 minutes walk to St. Marks (as they do on their website) to me is a plain lie. It´s a long walk from there! The only one of the three with a central location (no more than 10 min to St. Marks)would be Ai Tagliapietra. But the breakfast area in the hallway right off the rooms would put me off.

We stayed at Ai Tagliapietra B&B in May 2010 and loved the location. Quick to get to the main sites, but with lots of local feel. It was basic but quiet. Would stay there again.
Another option is www.hotelgalleria.it I think this would be around your budget and we enjoyed our stay here in 2003.

Just a suggestion. Don't cross off a great hotel just because it doesn't look close to Piazza San Marco. First of all you would want to stay away from the most touristy areas and second of all....Venice is walking and climbing.... you can also take the vapporetto anywhere, also.

Hmm. The previous poster made it sound like it is way off the beaten track. I would rather not stay in the midst of the tourist area -- it's like staying in Times Square in NYC which is not for me, either. I think I better take a look at a map to plot it exactly. Thanks.
