We are a married couple, around 40 yrs old. We will have a rental car and are looking for a good spot to stay for 1 night in Chianti in August. Agriturismo is preferable--suggestions? Something midrange budget would be good--doesnt have to be a 5 star but at least a 2-3 star.

Hi there..me again! I responded to your post for Sienna. On my cycling trip, we also stayed in Castellina in Chianti--again not an Agriturismo, but a great place: http://palazzosquarcialupi.com/english/albergo.htm
I really liked Castellina...it's a cute small town and a great place to stroll around. There is a neat art gallery right up the street from the hotel and several places to taste wine. If you happen to be going to Pienza...we stayed here: http://www.relaisilchiostrodipienza.com/en/index.php This was my favorite hotel on the trip. They have an amazing breakfast spread, which we ate outside and enjoyed a breathtaking view over the valley.
Look at Villa Le Barone
I notice that you plan one day each in Lucca, Chianti and Siena. These places are pretty close together. Have you considered staying one place for three nights and taking day trips to the other two destinations? It would be much more relaxing and allow you to find and enjoy one lovely place for 3 days lodging. Moving from hotel to hotel, packing and unpacking every day, takes a lot of time.
Look at Albergo Casafrassi just south of Castellina in Chianti.
I agree with Mamcalice. YOu can see Siena from ALbergo Casafrassi. Why not stay in fewer places and do day trips?
