Cheaper Camping Supplies in Paris?

Bonjour, my sister and I are in Paris and realizing we will likely need to camp at our next destination, Iceland. Does anyone know where we might find a used sporting goods store/camping supplies store in or near Paris, France? We would be very much obliged for any help! Thanks!

Nice idea; but instead of taking that stuff on the plane (this would be the definition of schlepping), I think I'd try to buy it once I was in Iceland.
Wonder if it would even be cheaper?

I know where there are regular camping stores in Paris, as I stayed near one once -- a chain called Au Vieux Campeur -- but I don't know about used ones. The one I was near was in the Latin Quarter on rue du Sommerard, but they have several stores in that area that vary in type of merchandise. THis is their website that lists them all and what products each carry

What kind of stuff are you buying, anyway -- things in Paris are really expensive, and if you are talking a lot of equipment, won't you have to pay a lot for the baggage charge?

Iceland is the most expensive country i've ever been in - extraordinarily so so bring in anything you can carry. I mean it's mind-bogglingly expensive

Besides au Vieux Campeur, you can also find most necessary items in the sporting goods chains -- both Go Sport and Decathlon have several locations in Paris (you can find the addresses on their respective websites, as well as a presentation of what they sell).

You say you will "likely need to camp". Will you or won't you? Seems kind of crazy buying a bunch of camping supplies if it ends up you don't need them after all.

You know, Iceland does have a system of super-cheap lodging -- you can bring just a sleeping bag and stay in a hut or hostel-type place for not too much.
