I found some interesting stuff on the ConsumerReports website regarding airline tickets (pay subscription required). It reported,

According to a new study, some of the cheapest tickets are tucked away at sites designed for European travelers. Indeed, none of U.S. versions of the Big Three travel sites--Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity--ranked in the top five for providing the lowest fares on European flights, according to the study, which looked at nearly 3,000 airfares among 20 travel sites. (The study was conducted by Consumer WebWatch, a grant-funded project of Consumers Union, the publisher of this newsletter, in conjunction with London-based Consumers International and six other consumer organizations from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.)

So where in the world do you have to go for the best deals on international flights? The German versions of Expedia (www.expedia.de) and Opodo (www.opodo.de) and the Belgian version of Travelprice (www.travelprice.be) as well as Airstop (www.airstop.com) had the highest percentages of lowest fares to all the European cities tested. Many of the lowest fares on those sites were for tickets originating from their home countries. In general, wherever you're going in Europe, it pays to shop at a site based in the country of departure, the study found.

For fun, I priced a ticket on AIRSTOP and DELTA and the Delta site had the lower fare. It was Tallahassee-Paris-Zurich-Tallahasse for 5/20/06 to 6/10/06. The Airstop site offered a Delta ticket for 816E, or about $1000. The Delta sit had the same flight for $923.

guess what, you aren't allowed to copy copyrighted material and then post it wherever you want. It isn't allowed, and Fodors specifically tells you not to do that in the terms (as do most internet sites). The fact that you copied something that requires a paid subscription makes it even worse, if that's what you did.

Yeh I like Consumer's Report's but our newphew in Copyhagen flys a lot across the ocean an he says if you shop around the cheaper ones is usylly from some american inner nets sites. Them americans are lucky!! An he tries all the Eurapeeno and Scandinavio places like Opydoh.com an Etrucker an Travelprice an Kookoo. Hes really good at fining the cheapest tickets.

I don't see what the big deal is. He was just posting about some information he found on a website that he thought could help.

I too have heard that you could save money by using travel websites of other countries. I just tried it using opodo and used St. Louis to Rome with random dates in March and came up with a competitive price. I'd have to do the actual conversion from pounds to dollars, but it looks like a fairly good deal.
