Hi Katalin!

I am from Edmonton... and I paid $1400 (Canadian) for each ticket. I know...it was hard for me to swallow too! The only consulation for me was how relatively cheap it was for accomodation. We are not staying anywhere fancy but we are averaging about $40 dollars/per night/per double room. If you need any budget hotel advice..please contact me.

Have fun planning!
Karen

We're going in September for 3 weeks. We live in Toronto and the fare I've been quoted is $1100 Cdn - that's Toronto to Athens (via Montreal) and then on to Rhodes. It will probably be lower in October. We will also be booking flights between Rhodes and Santorini and then Naxos to Athens at the end. The interisland flights seem fairly reasonable. We are dealing with a Greek travel agent here in Toronto and that seems to help. When I first called Olympic directly, I was shocked at how high the cost of the flight was (about $1900). Olympic advised me to go to a travel agent because they have blocks of seats. The travel agent also told me that as of last weekend, the airline wasn't charging fuel surcharges - obviously that could change.

Karen's right about the cost of hotels. There are lots on the internet - I checked with a few of them and prices were good, but again I seem to be able to get slightly better prices with the travel agent (e.g., if the quote from the hotel was $60 Cdn, the price through the agent was $55, that kind of thing).

I agree the airfares are high to Greece, but I just checked Canada 3000 for a flight from Toronto to Abbotsford, BC in July - it was about $650! Yikes!
