Cheap Flights in Europe?!?!
Hi All,
I was just lunching with a co-worker, and he mentioned that a few years back, they used to have super cheap airfares between cities in europe. It was a deal through some place where you could fly FROM any city in europe TO any city in europe for 49 euros. I'm going backpacking in a few months and would love to know if this sort of deal is still happening. Has anyone heard of anything like this???

There are a number of inexpensive inter-European airlines. Do a search of the forum, or check out ryanair.com or easyjet.com. These two tend to have very good deals, although you need to buy in advance.

I haven't heard of a 49 Euro fare from any European city to any other European city, but there are often 49 Euro fares between certain cities.
As a start, go to www.whichbudget.com.
It will give you the discount airlines that fly between any pair of European cities. If you go to the Web site of the individual discount airlines, you will find their special offers.
Except for the special offers that come and go, the rule is generally that the earlier you book, the lower the fare is likely to be.
Be aware, though, that some of the discount airlines use inconvenient airports, have strange schedules and limit baggage very strictly.
Also, the fare you first see is often not the final one; when taxes etc. are added, they can become considerably higher.

You may be talking about the site which offers flight coupons but you can input your proposed itinerary at www.skyscanner.net and look at all the current possibilities

The above links are all woth looking at, but remember that a Ryanair €2.99 flight can turn into over €30 by the time you add taxes and surcharges. It is often worth looking at the schedules airlines to see if they can do any better.
For Example, London Heathrow to Frankfurt on BA may work out cheaper in the long run than having to get to Stansted, then from Hahn to Frankfurt on the supposedly cheaper Ryanair. (This is a hyperthetical example)
Before Mr O'Leary and the lawyers come after me, may I point out I am not singling them out - I have used Ryanair on many occassions, and will continue to do so. Just make sure you know what you are paying, where you are really going
and to pay attention to the rules - there is no flexibility.

Just returned from a wonderful holiday in Europe and use www.whichbudget.com for flights to Venice from Paris Orly and also get 0.01euro flight from Turin to London Stansted. Of course you need to add the tax and 3.50euro per checked in baggage. There are strict weight allowances for both flights as well, which was a concern as I couldn't buy as many souveniers as I would have liked.
We had no problems at all, but we were on holiday and could pick off-peak travel times to get these wonderfully cheap flights.
Would definitely do it again!

The correct link to FLYLC is just http://www.flylc.com (*)
You will see all the routes in Europe for about 50 cheap airlines in just one screen!
(*) You will be redirected to the main page in the language that you selected as default in your navigator (english, french, spanish, german, italian or dutch, but english if not one of this list).

Anoher reasonable one is Condor in Germany. I believe it flies to cities outside of Germany and it also flies to the United States (Ft Myers, Orlando, and Las Vegas only) but their prices are pretty reasonable. They're part of Lufthansa so look at them at

Nothing wrong with continuing to add to this post... but notice that "Nanardino" resurrected it, almost two months after it was first asked. The OP has posted on nearly a dozen other threads in the meantime, and does not appear to be seeking info on cheap flights any more.
Best wishes,
Rex
