Cheap accommodation Cinque Terre

I will be travelling with my mum to Genoa during the Easter weekend. We would like to stay near Cinque Terre and have been thinking of staying in Santa Margherita Ligure. However, the cheapest hotel I can find is EUR100 for a double room. Has anyone stayed in B&B which is cheaper than that?

I don't know about SML, but if you're interested in low cost accommodations, try this place in Riomaggiore:

You can check out reviews on Trip Advisor. I was there in one of their large apartments almost 10 years ago and enjoyed it very much.

Thanks wantagig. This B&B sounds quite good. However, Riomaggiore might be too far for us as we have to catch a plane back to London from Genoa at 13:25. I will continue searching on the internet.

Hi moomin: Since you specifically asked re: the Cinque Terre, that is why the suggestion for Riomaggiore was given. My family friends own the 'Hotel Villa Argentina' in Riomaggiore and you can get a room with double bed starting at 70 euros. (Riomaggiore is 1 hour, 42 mins away from Genoa).

Santa Margherita Ligure is not the CT, it is 1 hour away from it (and 45-50 minutes away from Genoa). I have stayed each time in the CT and left on a 9 or 10 am train, getting to the Genoa airport in plenty of time for my early afternoon international flight. I think you should be just fine if you end up staying in the CT.

However, if you want/need to be close to Genoa to avoid any last-minute rushing, etc in order to catch your flight, then I would suggest booking a hotel in Genoa. Here are some hotel recommendations from friends of mine that you might want to look into: 'Agnello d'Oro' = a small, quiet, clean hotel, rooms with private baths. Pleasant hotel staff and convenient hotel location within easy walking distance from Genoa's Principe train station. The 'Hotel Metropoli' on Piazza Fontane Marose is near the bus stop of the Volabus #100 (the bus that goes to/from the Genoa airport, costs 3 euros/pp to ride). The Hotel Metropoli is a Best Western hotel and is very clean, with nice rooms and accommodating staff.

Buon viaggio!
