Charlottenburg Palace-Berlin

Will be visiting this palace. How best to get there? I am near the Kurfurstendamm U Bahn.
Was thinking of getting off at Richard Wagner Platz and walking but am not sure how long a walk that would be?
Also can one buy an entrance ticket there or does one need an advance purchase?
Thanks.

We walked from the U-Bahn stop. Cannot say how far it will be for you since don't know how fast you like to walk. I'd look up the stop or the palace on Googlemaps to give yourself a better idea.

We bought entrance tickets upon arrival; the place is HUGE BTW.

we bought tix on site, no problem, unless they changed the procedure since then. There is an excellent Italian resto across the street from Charlottenburg..and one of the better bakeries in the city. Did not record the names...but there are not many shops of any kind around the palace. There is an easy short bus ride along Ku'dam to get there.

You get closer to the palace by bus.

option #1
bus 109 towards Tegel Airport
from Kurfürstendamm U Bahn @ Joachimsthaler Str. (bus stop is at the NW corner at the Cafe Kranzler building)
to stop "Luisenplatz / Schloss Charlottenburg"

option #2
walk to Zoologischer Garten station
bus M45 from the central bus station in front to the train station
to stop Schloss Charlottenburg

Either bus gets you within less of a 1/8 mile of the entrance gate.

The palace is usually not an overrun sight. I do not know if you can buy tickets in advance, but there should be no real reason to do so.

Cowboy...on a few different trips to Berlin we found Cafe Kranzler to be an excllent stop for breakfast or lunch (elevator). View of Ku'damm below. I think that's the 109 bus we took back in '93.

not a very good shot of the palace..but gives you an idea of it's size and grandeur.
