Charles de Gaulle Airport connecting from terminal 2E to 2F

In October we will be arriving at terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle Airport on Air France Flt 2161. Our departure is on Air France Flt 8984 from Terminal 2F.
1. Do we walk, ride a shuttle, or a train to get from one terminal to the other?
2. Will we go through Passport control?
3. Since we will be arriving from Zagreb, Croatia and flying on to Atlanta, GA, do we have to leave a secure area which would require us to go through security again?
4. What kind of time would you project to change planes? We are arriving at 2:50 p.m. on a Friday and leaving at 4:10.

Many thanks from this more than concerned traveler.

Hi BB,

>We are arriving at 2:50 p.m. on a Friday and leaving at 4:10.

Wear track shoes. With only 80 min, you are going to be running through CDG

A map of CDG is at http://tinyurl.com/6rllbpz
You will see that 2E and 2F are connected.
You can run from one to the other.

>will be arriving from Zagreb, Croatia and flying on to Atlanta, GA, do we have to leave a secure area which would require us to go through security again? <

Highly likely. I suggest that you check with your airline. If you will be flying on two different airlines, I think that the probability is 99.9%

You can walk from 2E to 2F in five minutes. Or you can take a free airside shuttle bus. In either case you will go through passport control and security. I assume you are traveling on one ticket and your luggage will be checked through all the way to Atlanta. If your plane from Zagreb is late and you miss your ocnnecting flight, Air France will be responsible for getting you on the next available flight.

I did the opposite direction 2F-2E. I thought the only way to do this was to exit into the unsecured area. These are two separate buildings connected by a passage way but anyone from outside can freely enter the passage way area.

Security check back to US from any European airport is a time consuming process.

I think you may have your terminals mixed up. Atlanta will depart from 2E. Zagreb currently arrives at 2F but this may change later in the year as they just opened a new satellite at 2E last month. I would recheck https://www.airfrance.us/US/en/commo...ndance_cdg.htm closer to your travel date. Currently 2E has 3 sections - K gates (formerly main 2E), L gates (formerly satellite 3) and M gates (the new satellite 4). A very quick train connects the 3 parts of 2E. Even moving within 2E you'll need to go through security.

If you are using Skyteam carriers, they will take care of you. Since there are about 4 flight a day to Atlanta, even if you were to miss the first one, they would put you on the next one. It is their responsibility.

We did 2F to 2E yesterday. We arrived at CDG from Toulouse, then departed to SFO. It took a lot more time than I expected - about 40-50 mins after we got off the plane. We could not walk the entire way - we were forced to walk a bit, pass through France "exit" customs/passport control, then take a shuttle, then pass through security. The "exit" customs/control took about 20-25 mins because there was only 1 agent checking non-EU passports - this was around 9am - very long line. Security took less than 5 mins. The diagram of CDG in the flight magazine seemed to indicate that we could walk the entire distance - but there was a lot of construction going on and when we asked the "marshal" at the customs area which served 2E, he said that we had to take a shuttle - which was packed. The "exit" customs from 2E to 2F did not have a waiting line. I don't recall having to take a shuttle on our arrival - SFO to CDG to Bordeaux - perhaps the Bordeaux flight didn't depart from 2F.

Wow again and thanks. Every little bit of information helps, I think. We will go with an open mind. Where else but CDG?

You're going to miss the connecting flight to Zagreb. Luckily there is a large and very active special desk just for you and the thousands of others who miss their connections in CDG every day.

Or you could try a different airport for your connection - London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Vienna, Milan.

Time is closing in on the time for our return trip to Altanta. We are leaving from Zagreb with a plane change at Charles de Gaulle. Both flights are on Air France with the last leg being operated by Delta. Have there been any changes to the advice given earlier in the summer?

Oct 1st is supposed to be the day that 2F becomes Schengen only and all non-Schengen flights currently in 2F move to 2E. However this won't be reflected on the Air France site until the changeover happens. What day do you actually return? I would check the link I posted above on or after Oct 1st. If both flights are indeed in 2E by then, you'll just need to go through security and possibly take the very quick train that connects the 3 different parts of 2E.

My experience in mid July was worst ever.....there was so much construction, walking from one terminal to the next.....I think it took 45 a 55 minutes. Likely I had more than 2 hours betwwn flights.
Dreading. the next CDG experience in Oct

Super easy connection. Not a problem. CDG has the best on-time performance of all airports in continental Europe.

There's currently construction between 2F and 2E in order to create an airside passageway (yay)! I believe this should be completed by the end of the year and in any case, shouldn't affect the OP if the move to 2E is implemented as scheduled.

Just because planes land on time does not mean that the airport is easy to use.

You will miss your connecting flight but the folks at Air france will take care of you and get you on the next available flight. Enjoy Paris!

I have to agree with robertino on this. Everytning at CDG seems understaffed. Where Amsterdam, for instance, will bring in more people when lines start to get long, CDG seems to understaff every part of their ground operations. And its use of buses to and from ta lot of planes slows things down even more. Air France is great about putting people on the next flight, but that should not even be necessary.

Hey guys, I have a connection between 2 F and 2 e and I saw on the map that 2 e consists of three different boarding lounges ( K, L, M) which are are far away from one another plus from 2 f there are three different passages depending if you are going to K, L or M. And 90% I wont know whats the gate of my next flight and I wont know which passage to take. Any advice from you guys who did 2 f-2 e?

eedime,
When are you traveling and where are you originating? There should be flight monitors showing your departure gate so you know which boarding lounge to go to. From 2F it's possible to walk directly to the K gates or L gates. To get to the M gates you have to take a train. It's also possible to move between the 3 sections on the train so if you end up in the wrong section, you can take the train back which is literally less than a 1 minute ride between K and L gates (I haven't used the M gates).
