Changing planes in Reyjavik

Good Morning Fodors friends,
I am looking at flights to Copenhagen from NYC and Icelandair has a flight with a great price and perfect timing. There is a 1hr 20 min stop in Reyjavik. In most connecting cities in Europe this would not be nearly enough time to clear customs (waited 2 hrs at CDG in October!). Any insight on Reyjavik? It is an Icelandair to Icelandair transfer.
Thanks!

Won't be a problem as long as no delay. Small, fast airport. I had nothing to declare, so can't tell about that, but passport check was grunt, glance, stamp

The airport is set up for transfers, that's how Iceland Air makes most of it's money. I've done it multiple times, never a problem. If first flight delayed they will either hold the second flight (depends on how many people on your first flight are also going on the second one) or put you on the next at their expense.

As mentioned, no worries. The airport is tiny there and they are great. When we were flying home from Copenhagen, there was a strike at the Reykjavik airport for passport control and there were only 2 open lines. All the planes were held to make sure people caught their flights, just to give you an idea of how accommodating they are. On our flight over, we had to change planes as well and it was super easy. Our kids had the same experiences (minus the strike).

No time on your hands if you like Icelandic sweaters and throws, all of which are soft and beautiful. Well, all the ones I saw were.

Better to have the connection on the way home, of course.

Plenty of time, perfectly timed for a snack, a leg stretch, a pit stop...

Have your camera ready to capture the sleepers' lounge with gigantic kinda-beanbags where people sleep, draping themselves all over, some almost upside down, very funny (but PLEASE no flash, you don't want to wake them up or rile them up with your indiscretion).)

If your flight is on time, you shouldn't have a problem. We flew out of Minneapolis last June to Zurich with Icelandair with 1 hr stop in Reyjkavik. Our flight out of Mpls was 1 hr delayed. Our pilot announced several times that the connecting flight was "being held for us in Reyjkavik, not to worry." Well, we landed and found out our flight left anyways. I'm not a seasoned traveler so I really don't know if the pilot told us that just so we wouldn't worry or what. Icelandair was very nice and was going to put us in a hotel and get us on the first flight out in the morning, which actually would have been great to see a little bit of the city, but the rest of our travel party was already in Zurich waiting for us; we had day trips booked for the following day, etc. I explained we would like to get to Zurich that day,if at all possible, and they did get us on a flight to Zurich via Copenhagen that day. Even though I was upset with being told the flight was waiting for us who were continuing on and that NOT being the case, I felt for the price and how kind the customer service people were, I would fly Icelandair again.
