Cesky Krumlov to Melk

Cesky Krumlov to Melk
I am trying to fine tune my upcoming trip to Austria and would love some of your expert advice.
We will be in Cesky Krumlov over Sunday/Monday. I would like to see the Baroque Theatre on Tuesday morning before leaving towards Melk. I am not sure of time or duration of this tour.
1) Any particular route we should drive for best scenery from CK to Melk?
There are English tours of the Melk Abbey at 11am and 2pm. I figure it is best to wait until Tuesday to do this... We are staying the night in Melk on Tuesday.
2) I want to take the boat ride from Melk to Krems. Only problem is all the information I can gather is taking train from Vienna, etc. We will be driving ourselves. SO, how do we return from Krems to Melk to pick up our car? Wednesday night we are to be in Vienna.
3) Any suggestions on a Wine Garden en route to Vienna or in the Wachau Valley area?

Some suggestions
1) There are a number of beautiful monasteries and cloisters in the Waldviertal (forest quarter) of Lower Austria, though more to the east of Krumlov and north of Melk, but you could route through there via Ceske Budjovice, CZ (pretty town). Alternatively you could through Ceske Budjovice (pretty town) and Trebon (pretty town with a pretty chateaux), then head toward Zwettl, AT and onto Melk. In Ceske Budjovice I can recommend the Pilsner Urquell Original Restaurant in the center of town; local sourced food that is among the best we've enjoyed.

2) The ÖBB train runs between Krems and Melk via St. Polten, a long 1:37 ride with a transfer. There is also a bus, WL2, than runs directly between Krems and Melk that's less than an hour. Check the ÖBB site for specifics. Are you planning to tour Melk Abbey, take the boat ride, and drive to Vienna all on Wednesday? That seems like a lot for one day. You might enjoy, instead, simply driving from Melk to Krems with a picnic and stopping along the way whenever the scenery inspires you, then heading to Vienna.
3) Many of the wine gardens may still be closed for winter along the Wachau Valley route. We have always just stopped at whatever heuriger or gasthaus is open and have never been disappointed.

A better bus route from Kremas to Melk is to take route WL1.
This runs about 1 time per hour rather than the much limited service on route WL2-
Wl1 also much more interesting passing through small villages of Durnstein, Weissenkirchen, Spitz, St. Michael on the way.
if driving from Ck and seemingly with limited time I would go directly to melk.
Most probably the boat trip best fixed for your leaves Melk at 13:50

also consider an overnight in this area- good accommodation selection less costly than Vienna and often much more interesting- most villages change their appearance in the evening with nicely lighted town walls, castle ruins and much fewer tourists allowing you a very nice experience and no stress to make your way to a reserved hotel in Vienna.
