Ceremony of the keys tickets

We will be in London at the end of March. I read that you need to send your request at least two month prior to date of visit to get the ticket. When I learned this the two month deadline had passed. But I tried anyway and sent the request about week and half back.

I got the ticket in my mailbox today. I believe it reached us last Friday and since my mailbox was sitting inside a huge pile of snow until yesterday night, it as delivered today. So, if you are pretty close to your visit and debating whether to send in the request... go for it. They seem to be pretty fast in responding.

Now, I hope it would be a good show for the kids!

We enjoyed the show when we went last year. Not as much pomp as I expected though.

We enjoyed it, too. I was especially pleased with the idea of being inside with no other people around, and the chance to ask a questions.

The worst part for me was a family that didn't respect the rules or the other visitors. Pushing in front, talking, not taking off their hats, using phones to take pictures when asked not to. They were well dressed and looked privileged and they were awful. Sorry to rant about this.

You will really enjoy your visit. We did.

junk, we just did it. It is short, but for me, the magical thing is walking into the Tower when it is closed to all others. It also is a bit disconcerting thinking about all the history that has happened there and it feels more 'real' when it is dark and quiet and not being trampled with tourists.

A bit of a hint: when you follow the Yeoman Warder in - stay on the right, a bit towards the front. You will go to where Traitor's Gate is and listen to directions - again, stay on the right side. Everyone will be asked to line up on the sidewalk and curb and off the road. Those not on the right side will be forced back to the sidewalk towards the entrance - away from Traitor's Gate. The sentry will march down the hill and stop at the Traitor's Gate entrance and then turn and go back to the entrance and then back. If you are lined up in front of Traitor's Gate, you can see under the arch in front of you and watch what happens there. Otherwise, they just disappear under the arch and you can only hear what happens. I know I'm rambling a bit, look at a map of the Tower and it will make sense.

Unfortunately, no photos : (

Incase anyone is interested, there are videos up online. They've allowed the ceremony to be taped a couple times at least.
