Central London indoor swimming locations

I've got a day in London between a red-eye arrival at Heathrow at 7 AM and an early evening Eurostar to Paris.

One thing we'd like to do is find a place in London to take a swim and freshen up. I don't know if the best options would be a public pool, a spa/fitness center on a day pass, or trying to get access at a hotel in London. I'm open to suggestions.

Where are you staying? That would make a huge difference where would be practical.

You could buy access to one of the airline lounges at Heathrow.

Do you really want to swim, or will a shower do? You can drop your luggage at St. Pancras and go next door to King's Cross for a shower.

Oh I mis-read it as 7PM arrival and Eurostar the next evening.

You will have to stow you luggage somewhere -- most logically at St Pancras. So you want to find someplace near Kings Cross.

The main problem is the two leisure centers nearby that I know of both are member-only. AFAIK they don't offer day memberships.

The central YMCA is not too far -- it is near the British Museum.

The Queen Mother Sports Centre on Vauxhall Bridge Rd (Near Victoria Station) has an OK pool. You could store your luggage at Victoria station.

here are the pool timetables

The Porchester Baths in Bayswater - one of London's oldest.
If you take the HEX to Paddington you'll be there in no time.

Porchester baths are great. But not really in central London and not a good option to store luggage unless you do that at Paddington Station.

I must say I found Porchester baths to be quite restrictive in its non-school, non-club swimming opportunities.

OneAldwych Hotel on the Strand has a wonderfully calm ionized water swimming pool plus a spa and sauna.
Just the thing for frazzled nerves.
