Central Europe trip w/ grown kids

We're planning a trip to Prague, Krakow & Budapest with our 20 & 26 year old kids in September. Suggestions for suite or apartment accommodations? Also good tour guides?

You might check out Kozna3 on the attached link,. The vlasska apartment, by the same firm, have gotten good reviews but n=may be too small for 4.

I would suggest also using vrbo.com or homelidays.com and looking at the apartments there for those locations. There have been many guides discussed on this website for Budapest at least and I would suggest searching by Budapest guide in this forum. My brother stayed at the apartments at vrbo # 15412 and he loved the location and the amenities available. I hope that this info is helpful. Have a great time in all those cities...sounds like a great trip.

Re tour guides, we used Andrea Makkay in Budapest and Dana Chaloupkova in Prague and were very, very pleased with both of them...I particularly appreciate how they tailor their tours to your personal interests.

Cmeyer, we just returned 2 days ago from exactly the same trip. Prague, Krakow and Budapest were all wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and our accomodations. We stayed exclusively in apartments. In Prague, we stayed with Arcadia Residence and we highly reommend them. We stayed on Vlaaska St in Mala Strana just between the German and US Embassies. I can recommend a guide for you. Her name is Stepanksa at [email protected]. We paid 2400 Koruna for a 6 hour private tour. We also took the tour of the Jewish Quarter. The english guide is at the Old Town Hall at 11am and 2pm I believe. Make sure you eat at least one meal at Stara Praha one block off Uzjed St as your are going towards the Leglii Bridge. It was our best meal in Prague and many other have recommended it. We took the train to Krakow. Buy your tickets from Cedok Travel or Wasteels which is in the train station. We paid $114 for two second class tickets. We took a day train so we could see the scenery but it was so smooth, we probably could have slept on the night train. In Krakow, we stayed at Accession B&B. It was a nice place and the manager met us at the door and called us a cab when we left. We were very pleased. Our best meal in Krakow was at CK Dezerter on Bracka St in the old town. It was so good, we went there again but we really didn't have a bad meal anywhere. Another good experience was eating lunch in a Milk Bar (Mlzency) which is very cheap. If you can't speak Polish, don't worry, there is always someone nearby who is happy to interpret for you. If you are going to Auschwitz, just go to the bus station and get on the bus. When you get there, you can sign up for the English language tour. We took a bus to Budapest because we had heard the scenery was good. It was fabulous. We saw snow covered mountains and picturesque villages that were beautiful - especially in Slovokia. We went on Orange Ways line which was only 15 euros per person one way. The bus leaves Krakow at 2:30 and gets into Budapest at 10pm. We checked the price on the train and for two of us, it was over $250 so the bus is the way to go. In Budapest, we stayed at Apartment Max which is owned by an John Farago, an American living in New York. The website is: http://www.budapestvacationrentals.c...als/Intro.html. You will not be disappointed in any of his places in Budapest. Our best meal in Budapest was in Szentendre at the Golden Dragon. We took the boat trip up there. If we were to do it again, we would take the boat up and the bus or train back. The boat leaves Budapest at 10:30am and doesn't depart Szentendre until 5pm. It's kind of a small town, well worth seeing but not for a whole day. Any other questions, please let me know.
