Cell Phone cards in Italy
I know, I know everyone is tired of cell phone questions. But. . .
I ordered the $29 Mobal Phone that has been mentioned here. Now I need to buy a TIM card. My husband has to know the phone number before we leave, that is why I have to get it now rather than in Italy where it will be cheaper.
The prepaidgsm.com site allows you to register and obtain the "codice fiscale" that you need to register the TIM card. I have completed that and I have a number.
Now what do I do. I was going to buy the TIM card on Ebay. They say in the written information that you need this "codice fiscale" number before you can use the TIM card but nowhere does it ask for it. If I buy the TIM card from them do I have to do something in Italy before it will work? Or is there another online site that I can buy and register the TIM card so we hit the ground running in Italy.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

When trying to get an Italian sim card outside Italy, make sure it is pre-activated, i.e. it was activated by someone in Italy and now being sold on (or done in bulk before being exported). An unactivated sim card can only be activated within Italy, at a service point with online access to network providers. So in Italy you normally buy your sim card in TIM shop, Vodafone shop, WIND shop or independent mobile dealer, and in the course activation they will need your codice fiscale. Top-up card can be bought everywhere, such as tabacs, magazine stands and tourist shops.
