CDG Meeting Point Help

Hello. Need some help with CDG. I've flown in/out and through a few times, but never had to decide where to meet someone!

I'm tacking on 6 days to an Italy trip in October, and a friend is going to fly over and meet me in Paris.

I'll be flying in the night before from Naples and staying at the Ibis at the Airport.

She'll be arriving around noon on an Iceland Air flight, I think Terminal 1. I'm a rather seasoned traveler, she's waiting for her first passport, and I don't want her worried I won't find her!

Not really knowing the location of the Ibis, and never having waited for anyone at the airport (I land and go!) I need some help.

Am I going to be able to figure out where she'll emerge after customs/immigration with her luggage? Ideally I'll wait for her there, but, on the off chance I miss her, is there an obvious place (cafe etc) that's right there where she'll come out, where I can tell her to go if she doesn't see me??

Appreciate any help!

Thank you

Not really knowing the location of the Ibis,

You need to find this out first. There are a lot of Ibis hotels around the airport.

Assuming you are staying at the Ibis on the airport at Roissypôle (there is also an Ibis Styles at Roissypôle), take the free train, the CDGVAL, to terminal 1. The Customs exit is on the Arrival level opposite exit #36.

As a backup, you might want to arrange to meet at one of these located on the CDGVAL or lowest level of terminal 1:

Brioche Dorée
Grand Comptoir
Hippopotamus
MacDonald´s

I would also arrange an absolute cutoff time at which, if you of you has not shown up, the other would proceed to the hotel.

Plan to have smart phones if possible. CDG has free WiFi I think, and there are free texting apps. Try communicating with each other by text using WiFi before you leave for Europe, so make sure you know how it works, so neither of you will be fumbling around day of trying to figure out how the app works or something.

You could also plan to meet in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel which is right in Terminal 2. Should be easy for both of you to find.

Thank you all. Yes, it's the Ibis at Roissypôle, I just wasn't sure which terminal it was closest to (Term 3 is what I now know).

We'll both have our smart phones and can communicate via facebook messenger if needed. Great idea!

The Sheraton Lobby is a great idea!

Thanks again! This isn't happening until October, but she is very anxious and I'm trying to ease her mind as much as possible!

I always wait for people outside the customs exit. There is only one at Terminal 1.

The Sheraton is a terrible idea because it is in Terminal 2 and there is absolutely no reason for either of you to go there even though there is a rail shuttle.

If you want a hotel lobby, what's wring with the lobby of the Ibis at Roissypôle? The rail shuttle also connects Roissypôle to Terminal 1, which could help the Ibis make sense if you are going to be taking the RER after she arrives since the Ibis and the RER station are part of the same building.

If you're taking a taxi or the Roissybus, just wait in Terminal 1 and save time.

Rereading your post, I ralized that your friend is arriving from Iceland, so there will be no customs or immigration to pass. Just wait at the baggage exit for the flight.

This sort of question is always eased by looking at the airport website. Check terminal maps etc. http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/en/homepage
You can stand in the throng at the appropriate exit. Or find some place less crowded where there is a café to sit down and have a coffee.
