Castles in Germany

Jump to last reply

We are planning to visit the XMAS markets in Germany this NOv./Dec. Our 30 year old daughter will be with us. I posted opinions for castles earlier but that was mostly for our trip this May to Poland, Czech, Budapest and Austria. My daughter will have an interest in seeing castles. So, in Germany we plan to visit Berlin, Dresden, Nurnberg, Munich, Fussen, Rothenberg Wurzberg and St. Goar (Rhine). We still have some flexibilty if I hear some raves about an area(s) not to be missed. So please give me feedback about the following castles/palaces, i.e. favoirites, not to be missed etc.
San Souci Palace Potsdam
Residenz Munich
Royal Palace- Dresden with tour of GreenVault-we will need to rearrange schedule to see this one because the day we plan to be there it will be closed.
Neuschwanstein (in my earlier post Fodorites said great exterior but like Linderhow better)
Hohenschwangan- Fussen
Linderhof
Ehrenberg-not so certain about this one
Residenz Palace- Wurzburg
Rheinfels Castle (ruins)- Rhine What else should we see in this area??
What about Warburg or Heidleberg??
WE wanted to do Burg Eltz but it is closed in Nov.:(
