CarRentals.com is it too good to be true?

While checking prices for rental cars in Nice, France, I came across "www.carrentals.com", which is apparently a consolidator for car rental companies. They provide a comparison of prices for the rental you request from most of the major rental companies and their prices appear to be about 25-50% cheaper than the price going directly to the renting company's website.

I found a car through Budget for 1751.28 euro for one month rental. Kemwel and Hertz quoted over 5,000 euro for the same car or similar. The reservation can be changed or cancelled without penalty. (Sounds too good to be true!)

Has anybody rented a car through this company? I am getting desperate to find a car. Thank you so much

Hi; What are your dates? Try www.kayak.com I found a small car for just under $800 US by using Kayak and then clicking on Hotwire. [6/15 to 7/15]

Hi CG,

www.easyterra.com was mentioned by one of the posters here.

They are a European affiliate of AutoEurope. Often have much lower prices.

Also, have you looked into a lease arrangement for that long a time?

That's almost enough to buy a car.

For a month, look at kemwelcom and their buy back program--often less than rentals.

321sister and iris1745, thanks for the suggestions, I will see what I can find.

ira and bob, I did call Kemwel about their lease buy back but they don't have a car available. Yikes, I did not know it would be this expensive to rent a car last minute.

Thank you

p.s. Ira, how are you doing? Hope you are feeling better.

Be somewhat wary of booking with europe-based brokers. They include CDW and theft in the price but in their fine print is a high deductible (usually about 1500 euro). Better to rely on your credit card with zero deductible. Better also to go through a US company like Gemt.com (phone # at their website, call Andy) who can explain what's included and what's not included and is there for you after the rental in case you get overcharged by the supplier. BTW, I just got a 30-day price from Andy for an economy car in Paris for $889...guaranteed in dollars not euros.
