Carless in the Dolomites...Itinerary Suggestions?

Hi! Would love some suggestions on a Dolomites carless itinerary! There is a lot of information on the forum but I'm not able to find any detailed suggestions for exploring the area without a car.

We're planning on going first week of Aug from London for 3 days. Flying into Milan (the closest airport to the area?) and taking a bus/train to Dolomites. Where should we head as our base? Should we spend the night in one town, leave our bags and then hike, spend the night in another town? We've young and adventurous, LOVE hiking and aren't afraid of a challenge.

Ideally, I'd love to spend the night (leave bags), hike somewhere different, spend the night, hike through the day and at the end of the day take a bus/train back to base. Where should we go to catch a train from Dolomites to Cinque Terre area?

Would really love to hear from anyone! Thank you :)
