We will be driving across Austria, Czech Republic, Italy and maybe Germany for around 12 days.
My daughter is 4 years and 1 month old, 3'4" and weighs around 13.5-14 kgs. Yeah, she is a noodle ![]()
We had a Forward facing Group 1 seat where she stopped fitting into the integrated harness almost 6 months back. It has provisions to be used like a booster seat where we use the car's adult seat belt through the seat belt's loop near her right ear.
The second car has a Group 2 booster seat which uses only the car's adult seat belt.
The EU rules seem to be a tricky as the Group 1 seat with integrated harness is recommended for upto 15 kgs (says 9m to roughly 4 years)
Am I allowed to use a booster (Group 2) for my daughter or do I risk a fine? I am almost sure she will not fit into a Group 1 seat and using its integrated harness - what should I do?

Why not hire an EU approved seat with your car to save lugging one? Unless your seat is EU approved it is illegal no matter what.
Tell the hire company your daughters age and weight and they can provide the correct, legal seat.
If you opt to bring your own the booster seat will be fine since she has outgrown the other seat, and will be 4 yours old.
