Car rental Sifnos and Mylos
My teenage daugther and I will be spending 2 days in Sifnos and 3 days in Mykonos in late July/early August. Should I rent a car on these two islands? Should I wait until I get there to do so? Thanks

End of July/beginning of August is the absolute High Season on the two islands ( and everywhere in Greece with the exception of Athens).
Pre booking is necessary !! on both islands it can easily happen, that no cars will be available during this time if you decide to book one on the spot.

Do you mean Milos or Mykonos? Mykonos has a good bus system, and a car is not necessary. You will need a car to reach some of the beaches on Milos. I enjoy leaving driving behind when visiting the Greek Islands, and can get to most places I want to go by bus or on foot.

Sifnos and Milos are difficult when it comes to renting a car during the high season....
Mykonos will be this year heavily booked. Visitors during May increased at 117% compared to last year. Especially on Mykonos going back to your hotel at night can be quite a problem, if you want to take a taxi....
Lines at Manto Square can be very long, so having a car can be an advantage
I am more of the lazy kind, so i prefer having a car everywhere.... but using public transportation is not a problem at all...

Hi clausar,
Would you recommend Raychoo hire a 4WD on Milos, or would an ordinary car suffice?
Now we know Raychoo isn't going to Mykonos, but your post got me wondering: what is the parking situation in Mykonos Town during high season?

A 4WD is always a plus, but not necessary....
Parking a car in Mykonos is always a problem...
I had no problem with it, since i avoid visiting any of the Cyclades during August... but the parking can be a problem especially in the evening.
Apart from the big parking next to the old harbour, there are several small private ones at the exit of Mykonos town to Agios Ioannis.
