Car Rental Pickup in Nice Airport

We are renting a car through Kemwel/Europcar and this is what I have been given as far as where the rental counter is:

NICE AIRPORT
DESK IN TERMINAL 1 & 2 FREE SHUTTLE TO CAR PARK

I am guessing we drive out from this "car park". Has anyone rented with them before and can tell me how difficult (or easy) it is to get to the A8 towards St Remy?

Thanks!

It's easy to get out of the parking lot. I returned a car to the Nice airport but missed the fueling station and got stuck in the return section of the garage. They gave me a temporary pass and told me how to get out, which I did with no problem, although I admit that the whole procedure was within the airport itself.

When are you going? I can give you my experience after we pick up our car on October 25th. We've dropped off a car there before--the airport's not that big. Do you have a GPS? If not, print out the directions from www.viamichelin.com . It will give you turn by turn instructions.

A8 Autoroute is next to airport, very very easy. Small airport.

Nothing to worry about--getting out and onto the main road is very easy. Just remember that in France road signs show the final destinations rather than numbers. For St-Rémy you will want "Avignon," assuming you plan to use the autoroute. The interchanges are not far from the airport.

If you're concerned about it you can scout the streets and exits around the airport using Google Maps Streetview... you can see exactly where you'll need to go...

There are often reports of long waits at car rental desks at Nice airport though... if you can manage it, have one person head for the car rental right away while the other hangs around for the luggage.

Thanks everyone! Yes we have a GPS and I was looking at Street View in Google Maps last night, I think I will print that.

Good tip about heading towards Avignon, I had not thought of that but it makes sense.

We pick up on the 20th and return on the 25th... so Bellarosa, we will almost cross paths!
