Car rental Malaga to Seville

Hi all. DH and I will be driving from Malaga to Seville in early March. We plan on spending two nights in Antequera and one night in Ronda before heading on to Seville. I figured we'd pick up the car at the train station in Malaga because it always seems easy driving out of a city. Usually where we have problems is dropping off! Barcelona almost killed us and without the kind help of a passerby I don't think we ever would have found the drop off site in Porto! My question is where do you suggest dropping off in Seville? Santa Justa train station or the airport? It seems a pain to go so far out of the way to the airport but maybe it's easier and less likely to cause a heart attack?
Thank you!

I did the oppposite route, train station in Sevilla to train station in Malaga. We had a bit of difficulty exiting Sevilla but ifi you get good directions or use GPS, or mark the route out on a map, it should not be too stressful. There are wide avenues that will take you to, or very near to, Santa Justa. And the drive itself is easy, and pretty.

Airport is always easier, for me, but will likely cost more.

We always recommend our clients drop the rental off at the airport and take a taxi to your hotel. Sevilla is fine, if you are used to the one way streets, if not it’s a taxi.

I don’t recall having a problem returning a rental at the train station from what I remember it’s rather a straight shot in on the highway.

I do like to look for the actual rental return area on Google street view, and then get your directions to there, as often the address given is an office rather than the return lot.

I have returned rental vehicles at Santa Justa train station in the past, and thought driving there to be pretty straightforward. There is some station direction signage as you approach the vicinity. The rental parking lot does have a gate (even though separate form the regular parking lot) and you must take the ticket from the machine for the gate to open. Just hand that ticket to the clerk who will inspect the vehicle after you park it in the proper company area. This person will then provide you with paperwork which you then take inside the station at their offices for finalization of transaction.

This is as of a few years ago but I would not think it would have changed that much. Also, the train station is much more central than the airport which is a little bit outside town. Therefore the taxi from the station to your hotel should be faster and certainly less expensive.

In the end, just go with whatever you feel comfortable with!

Thank you all for your thoughts. I think we'll go for it and drive into Santa Justa!
