Hello. I need advice as to where to drop off my rental car within Slovenia's coast. My plan is to see Postojna and stop in Piran before making our way into Croatia from this side of Slovenia. We need to take a train or bus to a town in Croatia where we can pick up another car rental where we continue on to Split. What would be the most efficient way to do this? We are travelling with 2 kids, 9 and 6. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hi. From where you enter Slovenia. If I know I can tell you more. Slovenia is small and I will go to Ljubljana, rent a car there, visit Postojna, Skocjan Caves(better than Postojna),go to Piran, perhaps Lipica, return to Ljubljana. From Ljubljana to Zagreb you have many trains or buses. From Zagreb to Split you have nice highways so you can reach Split in three hours.
I just saw that there is a good/quick train service from Ljubljana to Rijeka. Web is bahn.co.uk
We dropped one time at Kotor--near Piran but also close to Trieste. I assume you can bus into Croatia from there.
Hmmm ! Make that Koper.
We dropped our car in Porec, so that might be your best bet on where to pick up a car in Croatia.
