car rental drop off at CDG

How easy is it do drop a rental car at CDG? My son and I will be returning to CDG from a trip to Normandy. I am staying in D'Ermononville the night before which is close to Senlis- only about 15 minutes north of the airport. We will be arriving at the airport at about 6:30am. Should I expect much traffic? I don't speak French so what kind of signs will I be looking for?

CDG can be a confusing drop-off location. Just look for "location de voitures" signs, and then you'll see the actual signs of the companies (EuropCar, Hertz, Avis, etc.). Give yourself some extra time in case you miss an entrance or something.

Great that you're staying at Ermononville. Will you be at the Chateau? We thought it a wonderful place. Do have your last dinner in France there, if at all possible in the turret room.

Yes! I am staying at the Chateau. I'm glad you think it a good place and I will be sure to reserve for dinner there as well.

I will drop my son off at CDG the next morning and meet my husband there so we can cheer for Lance and Tyler and ride our bikes during the TdF.

It is a fairly easy dropoff. The dropoff points are located inside the parking garages. May i recommend maybe dropping the car off the evening before and catching a shuttle to the airport. It makes for a little more leisurely morning. We stayed at the Comfort Inn CDG took the shuttle to the RER and went into Paris for a final dinner. Have fun.

I actually found it pretty easy. I dropped off at Terminal 2. Followed the signs to Terminal 2 and then the signs to rental cars. No problem.

We rented many times at CDG and we too found dropoff to be very easy. Last time we drove to Paris and return our car there.
You won't have too much traffic at 6:30 am

It's Terminal 1 that's the problem - at least it used to be.

Thanks for all of the quick responses. They definitely put my mind at ease about the situation. We are flying Air France which I assume still flies into Terminal 2 (after the collapse is this true?)

jay, I originally considered doing as you suggested, dropping the car off the night before and staying at an airport hotel.

But I found the Chateau D'Ermonoville near Chantilly and Senlis which I thought would be the perfect accomodations for my son's last night in France. I think I am more comfortable dropping the car off at the airport than worrying about the possibility of a taxi or shuttle not picking me up at the Chateau.
