Is there a way to insure a rental vehicle while on the ferry? I am told that the car rental insurance does not cover the vehicle while on the ferry.

TR Provence, Israel, Switzerland, Italy..April 16 a day of AA infamy

And for good reason! Do you know what happened when the garage in the Tirrenia car ferry caught fire TWICE in FIVE YEARS (the same ship)? There are videos on You Tube which show the Tirrenia ship billowing smoke, the police helicopters circling above, and the SNAV ship racing to the rescue. There are passengers from that ill-fated crossing who are still trying to recover damages for their destroyed rental car from a Tirrenia Lines in bankruptcy court. Here are two thoughts:
1. Book on SNAV Lines, which is not in bankruptcy; or
2. Drop the car in Naples and rent another car in Palermo.
