Capri or French Riviera???

I'm trying to plan my honeymoon but my fiance & I are having such a hard time choosing between Capri & the French Riviera. We don't want to do a WHOLE lot of travelling since it is our honeymoon- but if anyone has been to both places & has any suggestions- please let me know. Thanks!!

Capri - would get my vote. Strolling around is beautiful and travel there is mostly by ferry, funicular, bus or chairlift. (Be sure to reserve your lodging well ahead.)
Most of the interesting places to see on the Cote d'Azur involves much more travel.
Went to South of France at the tail end of my honeymoon almost 3 years ago - we weren't impressed at all! It's not awful, but not the kind of place for that "special" of a trip. I haven't been to Capri yet but from what I hear it is really amazing. Also, if you are looking for alternate suggestions, we went to Greece before the South of France and that was INCREDIBLE!!! So if you haven't been and that is an option, you might want to consider Greece as well.

I've been married for almost 32 years now and went on Greek Isle cruise 5 years ago when my daughter graduated college. I can't think of a more beautiful place to honeymoon!! My daughter thinks when it is time for her wedding she would like to have it on the island of Santorini!!!--and we are Irish!

Dear B,

Just to throw in my two cents, I disagree with the posters who said Capri over the French Riveria. It really depends though, what time of year you're talking about. We were on the Amalfi Coast in July, and talked to quite a few people we met, who thought Capri was really overrated. They said if you wanted to go for great shopping and didn't mind swarming crowds ( at least while the daytrippers were there) it was a wonderful place to go.
What's nice about the French Riveria is that you have so many towns to choose from within a relatively short travelling distance. You can stay in Juan-les-Pins, which is about 15 minutes from Cannes, at an amazing hotel called "Hotel Juana", jump in your car, and go to one of the beautiful hilltowns or Monaco for gambling and dinner. Or, you can stay right on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice ( wonderful people watching) spend part of the day at the Chagall Museum in Cimiez, part of the day people-watching on the beach, then go to Vieux Nice for a bouillabaisse dinner. Just depends what's important to you,and what you like to do. Good luck in your planning!
