Now in the process of booking hotel in Capri. Has anybody stayed at the Hotel Flora or the Hotel Relais Maresca? If not i would like to hear opinions on which part of the island to stay. Already got air flight and hotel in Rome so i need to make this last reservation. Thanks!

Hi Smacknmo-
I can give you my opinion for Hotel Relais Maresca. I stayed there in Nov 03, it was absolutely wonderful. It has a roof top patio where breakfast is served. The staff were all courteous and helpful, and they have a computer terminal for web surfing. I think the only downside is that it is down by the Marina rather than up in Capri town. Though, it is 10 steps away from the funicular, and 20 steps away from the pier.
yk's "only downside" in my humble opinion defeats the whole idea of spending the night on Capri. I can't imagine going there and staying down by the marina instead of up on the hills.
I still remember my partner's remarks when we got off the boat. "what are we doing here, this looks like the tackiest place I've ever been?" He changed totally when we got on top of the hill.

I agree with Patrick, if I could expand a bit. I only had 1 day in Capri, and Relais Maresca was running a special at that time (100Euro for a seaview double room). Those were the reasons I stayed there. I think if/when I go back in the future and stay longe in Caprir, I would avoid staying in the marina area.
