My husband and I went this summer, and I think it was just under $20 per person. You can have a cab drive you to the dock rather than going by boat. I would recommend doing that--the line was shorter. We negotiated a price with our cab driver and hired him for the day. We stopped in Anacapri and toured the island by car. Have a wonderful trip--Capri is an amazing place.

Thanks Lisa and JT.
Lisa can you remember roughly how much your taxi to the dock was?
We would quite like to try the boat ride from the Marina to the Grotto but then once back out get out from there and go on to Ana Capri from there. Do either of you know if that is at all possible?
What was the grotto like? Did you both enjoy it?

I consider the touristy grotto and any road-accessible attraction to be the least of Capri's charms. You are talking about the Anacapri 2/3 part of the island incl the 2 marina's which tend to have less natural beauty and are cursed by traffic and the tiresome commercial development occuring within a few blocks of any road.
The great majority of the Capri third of the island has NO motorcars; it's a gorgeous Venice of the sky with endless serene walkways among cliffs, shorelines, villa's, flowered parks, and charming restaurants. On a short trip I would spend every minute there, with possibly a quick jaunt to Anacapri's Mt Solano (if just for the nice view back to Capri.
