Cannobio/Lago Maggiore in October?
Greetings all - we discovered Cannobio 2 years ago, absolutely loved it, especially all the activities & restaurants along the waterfront. But we were there in August. This year we'd love to return, but it wouldn't be til early October. I know many of the resort towns in Italy pretty much shut down in September... Any one know what Cannobio is like in the fall?

Cannobio is never closed and you will always find open hotels and restaurants. But don't hope to meet a lot of other tourists. Boats to Locarno and Stresa will most probably run until Oct. 14th. The direct aliscafi to Luino run all the year round. So do the buses to Intra and Brissago.
The weather will be completely unpredictible: nice sunny hiking weather, fog over the lake (especially in the morning), short rainfall periods or continuous rain during several days.

Wonderful info, grazie. Not to worry about tourists, we ran into virtually no American tourists there last time, even in August, suits us fine. Do you know if Isola Bella is open in October? Last time it was just way too crowded, we didn't go.

We have been there 2 times in last few years in October. Quiet. Beautiful Fall weather. Most restaurants open in Cannobio with no crowds. Outdoor seating areas having heating lamps. All the island ferries open. Even the gardens in Intra had flowers. We liked it a lot. Especially the Hotel Cannobio. Hard to beat a place that serves complimentary Prosecco with breakfast!
