Canning Town Station

Can some kind soul please describe for me the quickest way to get from the Jubilee Line platform to the DLR platform for LCY? At which end of the tube train will the up escalator be so I can position myself for a quick dash?

Nearer the front, by the sound of it, but there are several sets of escalators. Eastbound Jubilee Line comes into platform 6:

Thank you for your reply, PatrickLondon. Much appreciated

I followed your link and read all the instructions. They were, unfortunately, a little complicated for my old brain. I then watched some utube videos of the station and then looked at a whole bunch of photos of it.

From all that I saw, it would appear that platforms 5 and 6 and platforms 1 and 2 are all on the ground level, while platforms 3 and 4 are above platforms 5 and 6. It also seems that the main concourse is below platforms 5 and 6. In order to get from platform 6 to platform 1 it is necessary first to go DOWN to the concourse, walk a ways and then go UP to platform 1.

Have I got this right or have I messed the whole structure up somewhere along the way?

I am sorry to be so finicky about this but knowing exactly where to go when I arrive at Canning Town station on the Jubilee Line could make the difference between catching my flight at LCY and missing it. When I get off that tube train I have to know precisely what to do. I cannot afford any wrong moves. Seconds could count

Yelpir, I have done this several times, and can't remember exactly, but it is not a long walk, just a change of floor with an escalator. And it is signposted. You'll be OK!

Ask someone on the train, while you are on your way to Canning Town. Anyone with a suitcase is probably going to City Airport. Lots of people change at Canning Town for the DLR.

It also seems from those instructions that there are no escalators between the main concourse and platforms 1 and 2; only stairs and a lift. So I will not waste my time looking for an escalator but will head straight for the lift.

Trains to city airport are the Woolwich arsenal trains and run every 10 mins at the time of day you will be using it from platforms upstairs. It's a very easy transfer - get off the jubilee line and simply take the escalators (there are several) to the platforms upstairs to catch the train. Transfer takes 1 min at most.

These trains also run from platform 1 in addition to the platforms upstairs, which requires a couple flights of stairs, only during rush hours and only from platform 1 on certain weekends when there are engineering works on.

Thanks, Tulips and jamikins

OH!!! If I understand you right, I should be heading for platform 3 and not for platform 1. I was informed that most of the LCY trains left from platform 1 and only sometimes left from platform 3, so all my planning was directed at getting from platform 6 to platform 1. If most of the trains to LCY go from platform 3 all my planning is wrong. I will then not need to go down to the concourse at all but can simply go up from platform 1 to platform 3 by escalator.

No they always run from the upstairs platform 3...except if there are engineering works. You can check in advance at http://www.dlrlondon.co.uk/Planned-Engineering-Works/

They only run from platform 1 during rush hour (in addition to platform 3) and during routing changes due to the above mentioned engineering works.

This is my dlr route so hubby and I take it everyday!
