We will be traveling thru France...and need to stay 1 night near Cannes..and another near Aix. Where to stay in a great town..with great food...but not the high prices..

What, exactly, constitutes "high prices" in your opinion? Name a budget. That's not a cheapo area of France.

As an example..a great place in Arles is 70E...vs. 12oE in Aix. It's not just the money..its town vs. city. We are on a 3 month trip..spending 2 weeks in most places in apartments.

We stayed at Hotel America in Cannes just a really short walk to the beach. Cannes is not easy to drive in during the Summer.

The Hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and the price was reasonable. Most importantly if you going in the Summer the hotel had good air conditioning

In Aix we like hotel Mozart. 72 euros from the centre. A/c, tv,free parking. About 15 minutes walk from the centre. Wonderful friendly staff.

Sorry. 72 euros for a double with shower, 75 with bath. Perfect for one or two nights.
