Canary Islands - most scenic and best transport?
I may be spending a couple weeks in either Tenerife or Gran Canaria in November. I prefer easy hiking and great scenery to lying on a beach. Any recommendations? Thanks.

(Northwest/Central) Tenerife and La Gomera, IMO.
I wouldn't spend two weeks on one island and from Tenerife you can easily go to La Gomera by ferry. La Gomera (N.P. Garajonay) is by far the best island for hikers but it's very small and tourist infrastructure is limited.

There is some good walking in northern Tenerife, especially round Mount Teide, where the wierd volcanic landscape is quite fascinating. The little Sunflower walking guides have titles available for various of the Canary Islands and are probably available from Amazon. See:

Thanks for the suggestions. Tenerife sounds like the best bet for us. The canary islands trip isn't exactly my choice, but I'm sure it will be nice and sunnier than England in November!
