Can you help me to like the rue Monge area? (of Paris, of course)

Jump to last reply

I've had my heart set on staying on the Ile St. Louis, when we get back from the week in the Dordogne in early October.

However, the best Guest Apartment I can find for us at the right time is their apartment on the rue Monge. Not an area that I know much about. And it might be noisy.

Has anyone stayed in that street or in that immediate area, and can you help me to convince myself that I'd be OK that far from the Seine??

Both DH and I are way up in years, and I thought for this Paris trip, it would be nice to have an apartment on the Ile St. Louis, so we could just wander in that quiet area, or go in almost any direction when we wanted a day out.

Don't feel too sorry for me, as we're staying on the Ile at Hotel de Lutece for our first three days, before the Dordogne.

The only other area that turns me on (DH just doesn't car much which AREA he's in, he just wants comfort and space in the apartment) is the area near the Eiffel tower. Unfortunately, the Paris Perfect apartments are out of our budget reach.

Thanks for any help you can give.
