Can dry cider be bought in US?

We so much enjoyed Norman "cidre brut", and I brought 1 bottle home, per my daughter's request. I don't think it's available in our State Stores (that's what our "wine and spirits" stores are called here in PA since they are run by the state govt.). It tasted different each place we had it; some were more effervescent than others, but it was all very good. I'd love to be able to buy it here.

We can buy it here but like the calvados, it doesn't taste the same.
A good calvados here is very expensive like, nmaybe, $65 a bottle . The lower priced ones taste like fire-water.

You can buy both imported cider from the UK and France, and local ahrd cider made by small companies, such as the excellent Woodchuck Draft Cider made in Vermont from Granny Smith apples.

Check around. If you can't get them in PA you can certainly buy them in NJ and NY.

Can ordinary grocery stores sell wine and beer in PA? If so, then check at the Wild Oats nearest you.

Best wishes,

Rex

Oh, I love Wild Oats! But we were also able to find Woodchuck at our local Kroger & Meijer stores. I've also been able to buy import draft cider from one of our local Irish restaurants called the Dubliner, so that may be an idea. Then again, you may be wishing to buy it for home.

If you can find it, Farnum Hill cider from New Hampshire is one of the the best. It's actually exported to Europe!

Thanks for all your replies! No alcohol whatsoever can be bought in grocery stores in PA; it must come from State Stores, except for beer, which may be bought at beer distributors. People do illegally go "over the line" to OH or WV (from Pgh.), but I doubt dry cider would be found in just any old store in neighboring states. Maybe our State Stores can order it in; something to look into!
