Can anyone recommend a reliable airfare consolidator firm?

Would really like to purchase low-cost tickets for travel during the shoulder & high seasons when our child is on vacation. We cannot go during low season unfortunately. Therefore, if anyone can recommend a consolidator that is reliable it would be appreciated.

Hi Michelle:

I've had good luck with Save On Travel. I like them because they reply promptly. The woman who helped me two years ago is still there (I know because I checked for some fares two weeks ago...I had saved her email address.) so I think that says something, however little that something may be.

They are based in Houston...the number is 713-334-9090. If you would like the specific lady I've talked to, feel free to email me. I don't feel comfortable plastering her name all over the internet. Ask to have an itinerary sent to you before you commit, so you can check flight numbers with the airlines' website to verify number of stops, etc. They also charge $25 extra each way for weekend departures.

Just keep in mind to read the fine print...if something goes wrong, I don't know how much consolidators can help.

I've been using Fare Deals for many years (I always check the airline websites and often call them, too, first - then call Fare Deals to see if they can do better). You can reach them at www.faredeal.com or call 1-800-347-7006.

Two possibilities:

http://www.the-joy-of-travel.com (I have used them; generally satisfied)

and www.affordablepoland.com (I have talked with the owner on the phone; made a pretty good impression on me. Never bought from them though).

Best wishes,

Rex
Michelle,

I had good experiences with TFI Tours. Booked open-jaw flights, East Europe, etc. Their interactive website serves up fare inquiries directly, and their phone service was expert.

http://www.lowestairprice.com/
