Pretty apartment, Sandi.

So, you never found out why you couldn't use the front door?

Well, the SIL rep said that the neighbors didn't like the metal door blocking the path to the other apts. I assume that SIL renters were leaving the ornate metal door open and the people that actually lived there had to push it out of their way to get to the other doors. I'm not sure, that's all I can guess. I was warned about that from a previous Fodor renter so I asked SIL about it in my correspondence with them. They told me the door was broken but promised it would be fixed. It was not, and I would not count on it ever being fixed. Fortunately it didn't cause any issues with us.

Aha. Well, some days I wish my neighbors would permanently shut their doors, too!

We stayed there last year, and had the same problem with the front door not operating. They told us that a previous tenant had broken off the key in the lock. The problem was that the "second bedroom", which was in fact a entry vestibule, was then the only way to enter the apartment. since it was so tiny, this meant we had to crawl over my SIL's bed to enter or exit.

It is true that the couch in the living room makes up into a bed, but that gives no privacy. False advertising to say it is a two bedroom apartment. They call it in the ad a "single bedroom, French bed". A closet with a cot is more accurate.

We called almost every day to get the front door fixed, but got absolutely no action from either the owner or the agency.

Other than that, the apartment was all right, and the location was superb.

If the bed is not folded out, there's plenty of room to walk through.

Yeah, Sandi, but if the bed is unfolded one cannot get into the wardrobe. Besides, if anyone wants to enter or leave the person in that bed has to be willing to get up, fold the bed, or be friendly enough to not mind someone climbing over the bed while they are still in it. A real PITA!
