Camping on Sardinia or Corsica for 7 to 10 days in Sept 2013

Hello everyone.
We are planning a trip to either Sardinia or Corsica in beginning of September 2013. Regardless of which of the two islands we decide on, we plan to spend 7 to 9 days on the island, we plan to drive to there with our car (will use ferries). We will be looking for a nice campsites near to or at the beach. Ideally we would like to change 2 or up to 3 at the most locations for the stay on the island and combine laying on the beach with day trips near around the campsite. We are two - my girlfriend and me and we are interested in nice beaches, not very crowded, nice small towns/ villages (for the daily trips), and maybe some mountain are trips (especially if we decide for Corsica).

I am not sure these 7 to 9 days will be enough to trip around the entire island, especially if we talk about Sardinia, so i will be very thankful if you recommend specific areas/ campsites that would be nice to be visited.

Any information/ recommendation will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I can't recommend a campsite but I visited Corsica many years ago and loved it. The beach is beautiful and I remember walking out forever in warm, thigh deep water. The small hill towns have a lot to offer as well.
Take a day and go hiking. I'll never forget an over-night hike, sleeping in a shepherds cabin and watching the sun rise over the very top of the mountains. I met a lot of hikers from all over Europe.
Enjoy your trip!

Sardinia has a well developed camping industry even in the most beautiful and expensive parts of the coast. There is a site at Capo D' Orso which is beautiful.

I would try Southern Corsica as it has more life out August. Both islands are large, possibly too large comfortably cover in the time you have but Sardinia has a good motorway system.

Thank you both for the suggestions.
As I see it i need at least 7 days on either Corsica or Sardinia. The best would be to combine both.

Should i look for ferries in advance and book or it is ok to deal with this when i am at the place?

Thanks again!

I used the ferry last July, it wasn't busy at all. The recession seems to have hit Sardinia , had no problem driving straight on.

I had pre-booked a ferry but missed it and had to buy another ticket on site.
You can probably find a timetable for the ferries and then book a day or 2 before hand.

Thanks! Where did you take the ferry from? And do you recall how much was it (approx.)?
