Camden Market badly damaged by fire

There was a big fire at Camden Market last night and it has been badly damaged:

On the up side the Hawley Arms has all but burned down - which is good news as it was always full of complete tossers.

Saw the blaze on SKY this morning -
The newscaster kept mentioning that the Hawley Arms was the favourite haunt of the theatre set.
So I guess if anyone wanted to rub shoulders with a famous actor or actress it won't be happening here anytime soon.
Which brings me to the question "who were the complete tossers"?

Various Geldofs, Osbourns, and Stewarts, I think. And Amy Winehouse. Maybe her hair finally met the business end of a pipe and ignited the whole thing.

The Stables market hasn't been affected - from the BBC map it looks like the market on the other side of the road where the real weirdos hang out

The Hawley Arms was a fun place to spend a Sunday afternoon though - the staff were always very friendly and they had jars of candy behind the bar. (real candy, that is. it's not a code word for anything!)

Amy Winehouse, Kate Moss, Peter, Sadie Frost, etc. where known to have frequented the place.

As the map shows the main market areas aren't affected

Yeah, what's up with that hair? Trust me if I was walking aside my daddy (as I have seen her lately) he'd grab that thing off my head and flush it down the loo. I'm not kidding. Someone needs to get her a complete makeover. Not to mention some major RE-HAB, NO NO NO.

any further assessments on the Market's near future - seems there are so many hundreds of stalls that overflow from the market that some kind of reopening would be in the cards?

Was in London the night of the fire and actually was heading to Camden Market the next Sunday morning - got to Tube and signs up that Camden Market closed due to fire but tube was operating to the High Street or whatever.

any new news?

It's in proper english. All English people would understand it.

How on Earth do you cope when you're over here?

Just watched "Right Said Fred" sing for a German Mr. Proper commercial.

Now that's proper English.

To be fair, CW, I don't think you meant to type "thew", unless you were talking about muscles, but given the general drift, that seemed unlikely - at least in that part of Camden (if you'd been in Old Compton St, you might well have meant exactly what you typed).

<Thew tossers are now stinking out the Engineer>

let's see what could this babble possibly mean?

throwing out the possibly misued <thew>

tossers may mean marketeers tossing up items

could be stinking out or trumping the Engineer - those planning the recovery scheme?

Tossers = generally derogatory slang term for idiots.

The Engineer is a pub in Chalk Farm which is now infested by tossers, Barleys and the poncerati in general.

Londoners' POLL (TimeOut)

What started the fire at Camden Market?

A- spontaneous combustion of goths B- Vanilla-scented joss sticks
C- Amy Winehouse's discarded crack pipe
