Cambridge to Manchester, UK

Need some suggestions for a short time trip to Manchester. We're a group of four, including 2 kids.

Do you mean you need things to do there, you want to know how to get there or things to do along the way? Is your short time trip a day or a week?

When is your trip and does it take in a weekend or midweek? How long have you got and where are you staying? Are you arriving after a long haul flight or are you coming in from nearer?

Sorry, missed the Cambridge thing, ignore the "arriving" question. What sort of things do you enjoy doing as a family.

OK -- I have no idea what you are asking.

Your title could indicate you are asking how to get from Cambridge to Manchester. Or -- You say 'short time' - does than mean you need to get to Manchester quickly, or maybe are you asking what to do during a short stay in Manchester.

Just too 'squishy' to know how to respond.

Some good suggestions here, but why are you visiting Manchester anyway? Heaton Park wouldn't be on my list, granted its got a small petting zoo but the place is dire. Much better to do Chester and include the zoo there.

Steve is right, Heaton Park has no attraction unless there's a concert or other event on, or if you enjoy pitch and putt. IMO zoos are the wrong place to see animals, try the wild instead.

The OP needs to come back onto the thread and give us a bit more info.

If you look at the OP's other posts, I suspect they are in the UK now...somehow neither of these places came up in MANY posts...

Just to clarify, I'm now in Edinburgh. Is it better to go to Manchester now from Edinburgh now and from Manchester to Cambridge or go to Cambridge, stay there for a night, from Cambridge to Manchester round trip . I need suggestions with the trip only, the cheapest way to travel. I bought the family and friends rail cards, family of four with
two kids of 5 & 15.

Given Manchester is between Edinburgh and Cambridge it makes more sense to do that first.

Cheapest between Edinburgh and Manchester would be Megabus - but you won't like the time it takes to get there but as you've left it far too late for cheap train tickets it may be your only option (BTW 15yr old is an adult on trains)

you have the rail card so you get the discount . . . BUT the discount will be off of high last minute fares so you've sort of blown that. You didn't mention in your OP that you'd be in Edinburgh before Manchester/Cambridge.

It makes tons more sense to stop in Manchester before heading on to Cambridge.
