California Hotel Paris

I have booked 5 nights at the California Hotel on rue de Berri in the 8th Arrondisement. I have read all of the guidebook descriptions. But, can anyone who has stayed here give me any feedback? I would like some first hand information. Thanks.

We stayed twice and enjoyed it. It is on a very busy street and real close to the champs elysees. There has been some remodeling since we stayed. Can't give much more info.

We stayed there 4 years back. It is about 1 1/2 blocks off the Champs Elysees, near the Arc d'Triumph. Nice, clean, but not overly large, air-conditioned rooms. We were there in August and, as I recall, the AC was entirely satisfactory. Lots of original paintings hung on the walls of the public areas and corridors. Good breakfast; we did not take any other meals there. My impression was that most of the patrons in the hotel bar were "regulars" from near-by businesses or apartments. Nothing stands out about the hotel; I would neither avoid nor go out of my way to stay there again. It's about a 3 block walk to a metro station, but all-in-all a good location.

We just stayed at the Claifornia St. Germain in the rue des ecoles (32)mentioned above. Not large rooms, good front desk and excellent location for metro and bus and walking.

My son and I are also booked at Hotel CA for 4 nights. We are "on our way" next week and I can hardly wait. There's just so much to do and we're there for such a short time. Any suggestions. We are not art connoseurs but I know we "have to" go to the Louvre. I just want to walk walk walk and "drink" it all in...the surroundings, the people and food.

We stayed there in May, 2002. Simply loved the hotel. Small and cozy. The hotel staff was excellent. They arranged for tickets and travel as desired. They packaged and shipped a dozen painting we had purchased. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to Paris. Location excellent.
