Cab cost from Tegel/ Germany/ to Charlottenstrasse

Can anyone advise us on cab transportation from Tegel Airport to Charlottenstrasse? What will the charge be? Will cab drivers charge us according to a posted standard fee or will they try to take advantage of the tourist? Are we better off asking the hotel to arrange this airport transfer for us? Will it be less money if we just hire a cab driver when we are ready?

How many minutes will it take to walk from Charlottenstrasse to Hackescher Markt?

Thanks!!!

Try asking rome2rio.com, or use google maps for public transport.

Charlottenstr. is more than 1km long.
If you know the number where you will be staying you can calculate the walking route and time to Hackescher Markt with Google maps.

The taxi ride from Tegel airport will cost appr. €30 or a bit less, depending on traffic. The fare is regulated and a .50 surcharge for rides starting at the airport will be added. You can pay with plastic, but will pay a surcharge of 1.50 for that. Regular luggage rides for free. No reason to use an airport transfer service or doubt the honesty of the drivers. They always switch on the meter - it's the law.

If your domicile is close to Unter den Linden, you could think about using the TXL bus from the airport for 2.80 pP. Though you may not want the hassle of getting on a (usually) crowded bus after a long flight.

Who knows my experience in Germany is that Germans are very honest - that said who can say for individual cabbies- ask for the fare at the cab rank before going perhaps.
